I understand where you are coming from.
Being someone who grew up on a farm where we had an experimental GE crop there was a time where I bought all the hype and PR lines about the advancement of science, ingenuity and the stated intent to use rDNA tech to solve world hunger. I used to brag to my friends in school because I thought it was “cool” that we were growing a grape that tasted like a strawberry, then I began to look at the real science (not the corporate hype or fallacious pro-gmo PR releases pushed through certain academic institutions) behind what methods are used to create these transgenic crops and I was appalled. What surprised me was not only had there been no long term full spectrum toxicological trials carried out to ensure the products were safe to eat but there is a growing scientific consensus among molecular biologists (and other related fields of study) that the technology used to create “GMOs” is in fact inherently flawed and imprecise. What the data has been showing us is that the appearance of toxic or hyper allergenic proteins and other dangerous compounds within the created transgenic organisms isn’t only likely, it’s inevitable.
I wrote an in depth article on this topic that you can find on my profile if you are interested in learning more.
Your vigilance in reminding people of the value of choosing to act with respect and humility in scientific and political pursuits is a good approach to begin to bridge the divide between people who aren’t even using common sense anymore, and seem to just be arguing and acting out of spite or to prove a point. Keep up the great work.
